You are going to love this pear smoothie recipe, because it is packed with nutritious ingredients and is so simple to make. It makes a delicious breakfast that will keep you satiated all morning. The fiber from the pears and the banana slows digestion, which helps to keep you feeling full. The cinnamon provides a solid dose of antioxidants and can also help to lower blood sugar levels.

How to Make a Spiced Pear Smoothie

To make this homemade spiced pear smoothie recipe, simply:

  1. Add all of the ingredients โ€“ pears, banana, milk, yogurt, honey, cinnamon and nutmeg โ€“ to a blender.
  2. Blend until smooth and creamy.

Pro Tip: When adding your smoothie ingredients to your blender, always add the liquid (in this recipe, the milk) first near the blades. Doing this will help your blender to run a bit more easily

Possible Recipe Variations

This homemade smoothie recipe is very flexible with regards to variations. For example, feel free toโ€ฆ

  • Swap in non-dairy milk: I generally use dairy milk when making smoothies, but you can use any kind of milk you like. Unsweetened almond, coconut, soy, hemp, oat, or any other type of plant-based milk are all terrific options.
  • Use a different sweetener: Rather than honey, you can substitute another natural and unrefined sweetener, such as maple syrup or agave nectar. Alternatively, you can throw in one or two pitted dates instead of a liquid sweetener.
  • Stir in some collagen: Adding collagen peptides to smoothies majorly boosts their protein content. Collagen is also known to improve the condition of skin, hair, nails, joints, ligaments and is great for gut health. I recommend using one that is all-natural, unflavored and unsweetened.

Those are just a few suggestions, so feel free to experiment with whatever ingredient swaps or additions that sound good to you.

My Favorite Hack for Making Smoothies

I’m sure you know by now that drinking smoothies on a regular basis is super beneficial for your health. However, many people don’t drink smoothies often enough because they don’t have the time to shop for ingredients, measure them out, and chop them up. If you struggle to drink smoothies regularly due to lack of time, I highly recommend signing up for a smoothie delivery service.

Based on my research, my top choice for healthy smoothie delivery is SmoothieBox. SmoothieBox sends everything you need to make nutritionally-balanced smoothies (in pre-portioned, ready-to-blend smoothie pouches) straight to your doorstep. Oh I wouldn’t have thought to use pears in smoothies! I love that you added yogurt in here too, because I like my smoothies on the thicker side.

    1. Thanks Heather! Pears taste great in a smoothie, they kind of give it an applesauce-like consistency. I like my smoothies nice and thick too – and the yogurt gives it a good dose of protein as well! ๐Ÿ™‚

And I just purchased a case of pears yesterday! This smoothie is just what my tastebuds are craving!! Delicious!!

    1. Hi Lauren! Yes, I recommend using an avocado. Avocado has a different flavor profile (and color!) than banana, but it will make your smoothie thick and creamy. You might need to use a bit more sweetener in your smoothie, since avocados aren’t naturally sweet the way bananas are.

      1. What about riced cauliflower in place of banana? Iโ€™ve used it in my smoothies to get them thick and creamy. Iโ€™m allergic to bananas and Iโ€™m not a fan of avocados as much but I keep a lot of frozen riced cauliflower in the house.

        1. Hi Kaila! I’ve actually never tried using riced cauliflower in my smoothies or protein shakes before, although I know other people do that. But, I think it should work! You will probably need to add some more sweetener to your smoothie when blending it up, since the cauliflower won’t add natural sweetness the way banana would. If you do try using riced cauliflower to make this recipe, please let me know how it turns out!
