Quick Marinara Sauce (Easy and Healthy Recipe!)

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 yellow onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (28-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  • In a medium saucepan, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the onion and cook for about 5 minutes until softened.
  • Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Stir in the crushed tomatoes, basil, oregano, and crushed red pepper flakes. Season liberally with salt and pepper.
  • Reduce the heat to low and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 8-10 minutes until slightly reduced and thickened.
  • Taste and season with additional salt and pepper, if needed. Serve warm.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to five days or in the freezer for up to three months.
